A baby chair is another option. Some simply sit on your kitchen chair while others hook directly to your table. These are useful in small spaces and cost less than a full high chair. We had one that we used for travel to Grandma's house or to a restaurant.
I recommend buying both if you have plenty of room for a freestanding high chair and plan to travel frequently. We had both and I appreciated the features of each baby chair. The high chair was easier and more comfortable to use in our home and the hook-on chair we bought was very useful at friends' and family's houses.
