If you expecting your first child the baby name books and pregnancy books are invaluable. There's nothing more reassuring during pregnancy than having your questions and concerns answered immediately and naming your baby is more difficult than you'd expect.
Once baby comes you'll want to read to him or her from the very first days. Board books are the perfect choice for little ones who just can't keep their hand and mouths off of everything that comes into reach.
I also recommend that you get several parenting books for your library. I have a general parenting book, one that focuses on health and home remedies, one for nutrition, one for education, crafts and more and one or two humorous parenting books just for those times when I feel like the only parent to have her patience stretched so thin! Then, of course, there is the childrens' book section that simply could never be large enough. My husband and I have been reading to our daughter since she was born and now she loves books. Every time she gets a new book, she sits right down to explore it page by page. I have only added a few favorites and award-winning books for kids as a start and added several links to shop further.
