Amidst the excitement of a friend or family's recent news of a having a baby, there is a great deal of rigorous preparations for the celebration. One of these forms of celebration is having a baby shower. This is a time when everyone gets together to express their shared excitement about the new edition to their household. Games, food, prizes and gifts are all provided and shared as a part of the party that is organized. Putting together one of these shindigs is only half the battle, knowing what to buy, as a gift is another.

Many of us are at our wit's end when trying to decide what to get our friend or family member for a shower present. There is always the practical portion, such as, clothes, diapers, educational toys and such, but what about the sex of the child? Or, what of the parent's preferences? All of these questions can easily be answered by simply being involved in baby registry. By encouraging the mother to create a registry at a store, or stores, this will take the whole mystery out of buying the present. After all, if the sex of the child is not revealed to you, it may be included in the registry. And, as well, the registry will include information that would simply be awkward to ask for. Obviously, the mother is not going to tell you what to buy, but she would clearly have no problem putting that information down in a registry.

The process is really simple. The mother registers at a store, or a group of stores, and a list of items is included. Every time someone purchases something off the list, that item is removed. Therefore, you are not left buying the third or fourth portable crib for the baby. Many stores participate in this. Babies' R Us, Wal-Mart, Baby Depot, and Target just to name a few. Simply stop into one of these locations, look at the list that is under the name of the person you are buying for and decide out of what is left on the list to buy. It will help you take the guessing out of it. “Will she like this?” Or, “I hope she will need this?” All of these concerns will disappear. And that is all there is to baby registries.
